How to Make a Brand Kit Right Now

Your business needs to be using Canva yesterday.

Canva makes it incredibly easy to make digital content; you can even create a brand kit in the app.

5 Steps for Creating a Brand Kit in Canva

Please note: I am using Canva Pro. So if you don’t see the options listed below, please ensure you use the Pro Version. It’s worth it.

  1. Open Canva.

  2. Click brand in the menu on the left, under ‘Tools.’

This is where you will be creating your Brand Kit. You can also download Canva onto other devices like laptops, tablets, or smartphones for ease of use.

  3. Under Brand Logo, Press ‘Add New.’ Upload your Brand Logo and any variations into Canva.

When you upload your logo, Canva will automatically match the colors in your logo and create a color palette under ‘Brand Colors.’ If this doesn’t happen, delete and reupload the logo or manually add the colors you desire.

  4. Select the colors from your logo that you want to include in your brand color palette. Delete any extra or unnecessary photos and click done when your brand color palette is complete

  5. Click ‘Add New’ next to Brand Fonts. Select your preferred font, size, and style, then click done.

It is our custom to select the same font used on the brand website. If there are any elements you wish to change, like Brand Colors or Brand Font, now is the time to do so.

Now you have a brand kit.

Using Your Brand Kit to Create Social Media Posts

The developers at Canva understand how essential it is to be able to reference your brand kit quickly when creating new content.

And The solution is… dare I say… PERFECT.

Let’s say you're creating a new graphic for your brand Instagram.

Under the ‘Text’ and ‘Logo’ Menus in the Design Editor, you will also see your Brand Font presets and your Brand Logo automatically populated.

The brand color palette, my favorite feature, also automatically populates when you select the ‘Background Color’ box (on blank documents) to choose a color.

Simplify your content strategy and spend less time scheduling posts and more time growing your business.

A brand kit takes the headache out of content creation by having all the important elements of a coherent brand aesthetic all in one place.
