5.4.2023 - Dose of Growth

Start collecting small wins when you wake up to set yourself up for a successful day.

You have two choices when you wake up each day: you can hit the snooze button and waste time scrolling on your phone for hours, or you can rise before your alarm, hit the gym, and tackle your most important task of the day head-on.

Choosing the latter option is key to setting yourself up for a successful day, while the former can lead to a lackluster start and hinder your productivity.

Building positive momentum early in the day can help you make the most of your time and maximize productivity.

We feel the most accomplished and satisfied when we start our day by accomplishing a small task.

This, in turn, motivates us to tackle more challenging tasks and accomplish bigger goals.

Small wins can have a compounding effect on our motivation and self-esteem.

And each time we achieve a small win, we build confidence in our abilities and increase our belief in our capacity for success.

Collect these small wins in the first hour of your day to build the momentum of success:

  • Don’t hit the snooze button: Hitting the snooze button can disrupt your sleep cycle and make you feel groggy throughout the day.

  • Make your bed: Making your bed is a simple task that can create a sense of order and accomplishment, setting a positive tone for the rest of your day.

  • Drink water: Staying hydrated is essential for overall health and can help boost energy levels and mental clarity.

  • Only listen to educational content before 12 pm: Listening to educational content in the morning can help stimulate your brain and provide fresh insights and perspectives.

  • Meditate for 10 minutes (this includes Non-Sleep Deep Rest and breathing exercises): Non-Sleep Deep Rest (NSDR) is a form of meditation that involves resting your mind and body while remaining awake, promoting relaxation, focus, and mental clarity. Taking a few moments to clear your mind and focus on your breath can help reduce stress and improve mental clarity, increasing productivity and focus.

  • Head to the gym and workout for a minimum of 50 minutes: Exercise can boost endorphins, reduce stress, and improve overall physical and mental health

  • Review your weekly/monthly/yearly goals: Revisiting your personal and professional aspirations can help keep you motivated and focused on what truly matters.

  • Set a daily intention: A clear intention for the day can help you prioritize your tasks and focus on your goals.

  • Don’t eat before 10 am: Delaying breakfast can help boost metabolism and increase energy levels.

  • Avoid scrolling on social media until after 12 pm (unless posting content): Social media can be a major source of distraction and can waste valuable time.

  • Acknowledge three things you’re grateful for: Practicing gratitude can help cultivate a positive mindset and reduce stress and anxiety.

  • Tidy your living or workspace: A clean and organized environment can reduce distractions and increase focus and productivity.

Avoiding social media until the second half of the day will allow you to focus on your goal-related tasks.

Instead of scrolling on Instagram or TikTok, you can listen to educational or inspiring content that will give you fresh ideas.
