#14 - Overcoming Imposter’s Syndrome Through Action

Frameworks and Tactics for overcoming imposter's Syndrome and Perfectionism

It’s your big day.

You finally get to prove what you’re made of.

This is the LIFETIME opportunity you’ve been waiting for.

And yet the only thing running through your mind are questions like:

Should I even be doing this?

Did I oversell my abilities a little bit?

Plenty of people better than me can do better than me. How am I going to live up to that expectation?

Maybe I just said everything right and tricked the person into giving me this opportunity. When in reality, I have no idea what I am doing.

Before, you were confident and fearless and ready to crush whatever obstacle stood in your way.

Now you can’t help but wonder if you’re not as good as you thought.

This is what imposter syndrome feels like.

Imposter syndrome only comes when it’s time to put your money where your mouth is.

You could have spent days/weeks/months/years preparing, learning, and studying a new concept or skill.

Yet, you didn’t feel like an imposter then because you accepted your position as a learner.

Now that it’s time to apply that knowledge, self-doubt rears its ugly head.

This is something everyone goes through at least once in their life.

But the difference between winners and losers is how they respond to these thoughts and feelings.

Are you the type of person to be crippled by self-doubt?

Or do you do what you say you will do despite feeling self-doubt?

Making the conscious decision to act and fulfill your promise no matter what is the secret to overcoming imposters syndrome.

Show up, do the work to the best of your ability, and repeat until the job is complete.

Regardless of how you feel, what day it is, the weather or any other excuses come to mind.

Give yourself the room to learn, grow, and perfect things along the way.

But instead of striving for perfection, strive for done right and well.

Prove to yourself that you can do what you think through action.

Allow yourself to fail and suck until you get it right because that’s when real learning happens.

No matter how much you think you’ve learned in theory, it’s only confirmed once you apply that knowledge to real-world situations.

So whenever self-doubt starts to creep in, welcome it.

Think of it as a chance to earn your self-respect above all else.

Prove to yourself that you can do everything you THOUGHT through ACTION.

The more action you take, the less self-doubt you have because then the proof becomes undeniable

Even to yourself.

Alex Hormozi said it best: "You need to outwork your self-doubt.”
