“And so when we are hindered, or disturbed, or distressed, let us never lay the blame on others, but on ourselves, that is on our own judgments.”
- Epictetus
In an age where comparison culture is rampant and extreme emotions are more rampant than ever, we are fighting for causes that don't make sense and angry about issues that don't matter.
How often have you given your energy and power to things outside of yourself? How often have you sulked in your frustrations and irritations only to make them worse by your inability to let go and move on? How often have inconveniences been blown out of proportion because of a minor irritation?
Your judgment of the problem caused the resulting frustration and sour mood. There is no blame or fault, only accountability for your response to what happened.
If you decide not to be frustrated by something out of your control, you will not feel frustrated. Even in the worst inconveniences and life mishaps, you CHOOSE how to perceive the situation. Are you being hindered or just facing a learning experience?
Every learning experience provides the opportunity to learn more about yourself and a new skill.
